How to participate in the test of the new PHV service in Geneva?

Congratulations, you are one of the lucky people who have been selected to participate in the test of a new ride-hailing service that will soon be launched in Switzerland.

By the way … you still do not know the name of this new competitor of Uber which will allow you to benefit from free credits vouchers (of CHF 30.- and 25.-) to move about in the Canton of Geneva … 🙂

Well it’s Chauffeur Privé, and here below, we will describe how to install the “beta-test” version of the mobile application for the Swiss market to create your account and be able to enjoy it from the start of the period of test!

But who is Chauffeur Privé?

It is the French leader in ride-hailing services, which has now more than 2 million customers and counts more than 18,000 drivers in its fleet. The company, created in 2012 and acquired by the German group Daimler in December 2017, currently operates in France and Portugal. Switzerland will therefore be the third country offering a competing service to Uber, with several additional advantages (ex: exact fare price is set in advance).

1 – Install the “Chauffeur Privé Beta” mobile application (time required: 1-2 min)

The Chauffeur privé app for the Swiss market is currently in its “beta” version, so it’s not yet available as a direct download on Google Play and the App Store.

The installation is very simple but must be done by first downloading the application Crashlytics (service purchased by Google in 2017) on your smartphone in order to use the Beta version of Chauffeur Privé.

On your smartphone, click on the corresponding link below to download the mobile app:

From there, simply follow the step-by-step, and create your account.

* Important: If it is not currently enabled, you will see an alert asking you to allow apps on your smartphone to install from “unknown” sources (that is, “other than Google Play” or the App Store “). This is a normal and safe step in the case of Crashlytics/Chauffeur Privé.

(If necessary, you can also see how this is done and what are the few steps described in the installation guide for your type of Android or iPhone smartphone)

2 – Create your account on the application (time required: 1 min)

Once the beta version of Chauffeur Privé is installed, you can create your account on the application with your name, first name, email address and phone number.

Tip: In order to be ready at the beginning of the test period, please enter your credit card number on the application when creating your account. As a reminder, should the amount of the fare be higher than the allowed free credit voucher (CHF 30.- or 25.- per/trip), your card will only be charged for the difference.

3 – Take at least one ride (time required to complete the questionnaire at the end of the trip: 1-2 min)

“Can I only take one trip and consider myself done?” -> Of course you can, however we encourage you to take full advantage of the free-credit, as well as get a better feel for the service and its benefits. Additionally, your insight will benefit countless people in the future.

You will receive by email a promo code to be inserted in the application Chauffeur Privé Beta: it will give you access to a credit of CHF 30.- that you can use to hail any ride within the city, as well as the greater Geneva area.

At the end of your trip, you will receive by email a short questionnaire that will allow you to give a feedback on your experience (ease of use of the application, driver evaluation, etc.): after completing this questionnaire you will receive a new promo code which will grand you a new credit of CHF 25.- (which corresponds to the average cost of a trip to Geneva with a ride-hailing service) to carry out a new fare.

…and so on, up to the total allowed credit until Sunday, February 10 ?.

You can see below the area that will be covered by Chauffeur  Privé service.

We remind you that during the beta phase, the number of drivers will be limited,  and waiting times can be extended compared to a service running at full speed, thank you for your patience!

FAQ

  • What is the test period of the Chauffeur Privé service?

You can use the credits offered (between CHF 30.- and 255.- depending on the number of trips you want to enjoy) until Sunday 10 February.

  • How many rides should I do if I participate in the test?

At least one race, until February 10th. At the end of this first race (for which you will be entitled to a credit of CHF 30.-), you will receive a short questionnaire by email which will have to answer to share your experience, give your opinion, etc. By completing this questionnaire, you will be entitled to a new credit of CHF 25.- to make a possible new trip in the canton of Geneva!
At each end of the race, you will receive a questionnaire again, then CHF 25.- of credit offered again … up to a maximum limit of 9 trips, if you wish to take advantage of course!

  • Is there any risk to install Crashlytics and Chauffeur Privé Beta apps on my smartphone?

There is no more risk to install these rather than other applications that you have already installed on your smartphone. Crashlytics (which is a service bought by Google) and Chauffeur Privé (which is owned by the German automotive group Daimler) are 2 applications that have existed for several years and already installed / used by millions of people in Europe and worldwide.

  • Do I have to save the details of my credit card on the application to test and use Chauffeur Privé?

Yes it ensures the driver that the race will be paid. The credits offered during this beta test cover the full costs of an average race in Geneva. The cash payment option will be available in a second time, but still requires the registration of a credit card.

  • Is there any type of credit card that cannot be used during the testing phase?

Yes, the American Express cards won’t be accepted during the testing phase but there will be no problem about using them once the service Chauffeur Privé will be officially launched. Please note also that the “virtual / pre-paid” credit cards can’t be used within the service too.

  • Are there any app features that cannot be used during the testing phase?

Yes, some features won’t be tested during the testing phase even if you might be able to see them on the app. For example, “referrals to friends” or “business accounts” will be visible on the Settings section but won’t be activated.

  • Can I still invite friends or family members to test the service and benefit from the credits?

Of course! It is more than likely that they too are interested in testing Chauffeur Privé to take advantage of the 10 free trips (within the limit of the credits offered per trip) ?
In order for them to be selected and receive their codes in order to benefit from the credits in question, you just have to indicate them the link of the short questionnaire which you also filled (http://bit.ly/service-vtc-geneve) or , more simply, click on the buttons below to share it on your Faceboot profile and / or Twitter:
